Teachers

Dalton Public Schools believes teachers are leaders in their classrooms, schools, and district. The following statement was crafted by teachers as their vision for their work with Dalton students.

Teacher Vision Statement

Our schools are homes where learning is valued and staff and students cherished. Our classrooms are places where diversity is demonstrated, community is celebrated, excellence is expected, and integrity is essential. Our vision stems from our belief that education empowers the future of individuals within a society. We teach for the future of every child.

As teachers, we are responsible for the success of students from the time they enter school until graduation day and beyond. We are the heart of student success; our passion for learning sparks students to release the gifts inside of them. The work that we design and facilitate for students is challenging and those who view it are awed by its quality and complexity. We think, share, explore, and experiment within a community of learners of high expectations and independent and meaningful learning.

Students arrive in our classrooms, eyes filled with hope and sparkling with excitement. They are proud of how hard they have to work and are willing to persist in the face of difficulty because the work has meaning. We publicly celebrate their quality work and give them individualized support. As they move from room to room, they make connections across subjects and develop positive cross-cultural attitudes and relationships.

Educating children is a multi-dimensional endeavor. The safe environment in our classrooms allows students to take their next steps in learning and to refine those steps every day. The warmth in our classrooms affirms the intellectual and emotional growth of the children and builds a deep foundation of character and creative expression.

The journey of learning is dynamic for students and teachers. New learning for teachers mirrors the continuous learning cycle in which students engage. Every moment learning occurs, a new human being emerges. The best is yet to come! Our future will be greater than our past.
