City Park Counseling Dept.

Mrs. Cheri Cochran serves as the guidance counselor for City Park School.  Monthly, Mrs. Cochran visits classrooms for guidance lessons with whole classes. Mrs. Cochran is also available for the following services:

  • individual student counseling
  • student group counseling
  • parent meetings
  • parent information
  • information concerning community resources

Monthly, City Park Students learn about Character Education.  We have a Character word for each month.  At the end of the month, each homeroom teacher chooses a student who has demonstrated this quality throughout the month.  These students of the month are photographed, given a certificate, given a prize, and recognized on the WVCP morning broadcast.  Our Character Words are:

  • August            Respect
  • September       Responsibility
  • October          Honesty
  • November        Perseverance
  • December        Generosity
  • January          Fairness
  • February         Courage
  • March             Self-Discipline
  • April              Kindness
  • May               Citizenship

Mrs. Freeman's Kindergarten Class
During the month of December, we learned that Generosity means sharing and caring about others. The students brought to school 40 pairs of mittens and gloves and 1 hat to help needy families stay warm this winter. Chai Cooper thought of creating and decorating a Mitten Box. The items were presented to Mrs. Raquel Cardona, our new Migrant Family Coordinator.

Mrs. Cochran can be reached at (706)-876-4509 or at cheri.kyzer@dalton.k12.ga.us.
