The City Park Media Center Philosophy is expressed in the brochure, The Media Center Way. Click here to read.
Where the Rubber Meets the Road
Your media center is where students can immediately apply what they have learned.
Vision
To match the perfect resource with every single patron on every single visit to the City Park Media Center.
Mission
To give access to accurate information to as many patrons as possible and equip them to determine truth from “untruth”.
Beliefs
· There is a perfect book for every reader
· All patrons have choice in what they read
· This is the place where choice, authenticity, protection, and ultimately engagement abounds
City Park Media Center
The media center serves as the hub of information for the City Park family. The media center utilizes a fixed schedule, so students visit the media center weekly during their weekly activity block. During this time, a thirty minute mini-lesson is taught, and students are then allowed fifteen minutes to check out two books of their choice. This time is also used in matching readers with texts appropriate for their reading levels. Students may keep their books for one week with the option to renew upon their next visit. Mini-lessons are aligned to the Georgia Performance Standards and instruct students in accessing information and resources in the media center. Opportunities for collaborative planning are provided, and teachers may sign up for additional flex times in the media center to correlate with classroom projects and instruction. Other services provided by the media center include:
- WVCP Morning Broadcast anchored by fifth grade students
- 3 Scholastic Book Fairs (Fall Winter and Spring)

- Annual Author/Illustrator Visit
- Read Across America Celebration
- Professional Learning opportunities in instructional technology
