Teacher Salary Schedule

Teachers’ salaries are based on the state salary schedule approved by the General Assembly and the local supplement approved by the Dalton Board of Education. Additional pay may be earned for administrative duties or extracurricular activities, including sponsoring student activities, coaching athletic teams, or teaching extended day or year.

Pay Schedule

The majority of support staff are hourly paid employees and the following schedules provide the hourly rate for each position. Salary placement is determined by verified years of experience and qualifications.

Pay Calendar

Dalton Public Schools employees are typically paid the final business day of each month.

Benefits

Dalton Public Schools offers a comprehensive benefits package to all eligible employees who work 30 or more hours per week. The benefits program includes the major medical insurance coverage through the State Health Benefit Plan, and an array of voluntary coverages, including Flexible Spending Account (medical and/or dependent care), dental, vision, disability, life, critical illness, and discounted auto and homeowner's insurance.

The district’s retirement plans are provided through the state-managed Teachers Retirement System or Public School Employees Retirement System. Eligible employees are required to participate in one of the programs and, in addition, may choose to participate voluntarily in tax deferred retirement plans through VALIC.

All employees earn sick leave at 1.25 per month and those who work full-year calendars are allowed 15 days of unpaid annual leave. Maintenance and custodial employees earn paid annual leave based on years of service.
