Teacher Emma Trew was proud of how well her students did at the assembly. "It amazes me at the courage, poise and leadership they display debating and defending the resolutions they created for their chosen countries," she said. "This year there was tougher competition than in years past, and our students created a big presence to ensure we stood out."

The South Africa team was recognized with the Overall Delegation Award. Delegates for this country were Nellie Gregg, Sarah Forberger and Jacquelin Fraire.

About GUNA:

Georgia United Nations Assembly (GUNA) is a simulation of the United Nations that aims to educate participants about civics, effective communication, globalization and multilateral diplomacy. In GUNA, students take on roles as ambassadors and participate in a simulated session of an intergovernmental organization. Participants research a country, investigate international issues, debate, deliberate, consult, and then develop solutions to world problems. During a simulation they must employ a variety of communications and critical thinking skills to defend and advance the policies of their country.
