Dalton Board of Education Resolution - DPS COVID Tiered Response Plan

From the Dalton Board of Education

The Governance Team of Dalton Public Schools continues to seek to provide the best education we can—even under the adverse circumstances caused by COVID-19.

In general, we believe in-person instruction best serves the educational, social and emotional needs of the vast majority of our students. However, the ongoing spread of COVID-19 in our community is concerning and poses health and safety challenges that can be mitigated but not eliminated. Our hope is that following a tiered approach will best help us both mitigate the spread and other negative effects of COVID-19 and still provide the most optimal learning environment we can under these conditions.

Updated protocols

*New quarantine guidelines: Students who are determined to be close contacts will receive a letter to take home indicating they have been exposed to a positive case. Parents may choose to keep their child at home for the quarantine period or if the child shows no symptoms, they may continue in school as long as they wear a mask for the quarantine period. If the student shows proof of vaccination as well as shows no symptoms, they may continue in school without a mask.
