Extended Digital Learning for Dalton Public Schools has been created to give learning opportunities for when school is closed for extended periods of time. We continue to try to provide strong content, engaging experiences, and instructional support to our students. Teachers and students are still encouraged to interact through email, phone calls, virtual meetings, chats, and our learning management system. Digital interaction will never replace the value of face to face interaction, however, Dalton Public Schools is committed to keep our students safe and learning when extended outages occur.
Pre-Kindergarten students will access their extended learning through the Dalton Public Schools Website using this HOME PAGE.
All other students will access Extended Digital Learning though our LMS (Learning Management System) called Canvas. For elementary, these courses are designed to introduce a standard, provide content and instruction in a digital format, have activities to practice, complete an assessment or feedback, and provide resources for further practice and exploration. In middle school and high school, students will access their current Canvas courses where teachers have enhanced content courses for continuation of current learning and instruction.

How will Extended Digital Learning work and where will students access courses?
Pre-Kindergarten students will access Extended Digital Learning on our website. Please click HERE to access Pre-Kindergarten content.
Students in kindergarten through 5th grade will use Canvas to access and complete digital content in their assigned courses. Students will go through the assigned module (instructions, content, activity, feedback, and resources) in order to complete the day of work. Each day of work will consist of a core subject, a Math mini-lesson, and English/Language Arts mini-lesson.
Tuesday: English/Language Arts
Thursday: Social Studies
Friday: Connection (PE, Art, Music, STEM, Social Emotional Learning, Digital Citizenship, Growth Mindset)
Students in grades 6th through 8th grade will access Canvas and proceed with current course work provided by content teachers. Students will follow the schedule set by the middle school when accessing and completing assignments.
Students in grades 9th through 12th grade will access Canvas and proceed with current course work provided by content teachers. Students will follow the schedule set by each high school when accessing and completing assignments.
How do I access Canvas?

How do I communicate with my child's teacher?
Parents can communicate with teachers by sending messages through email (email@example.com), Canvas messages, or by calling the student's school and leaving a message. Teachers will be monitoring activity and progress of Canvas courses and will be available to answer questions and address concerns.
