Cindy Parrott Named 2020 Tom Jones Educator of the Year
Cindy Parrott, former principal of Roan School, was recently named the 2020 Tom Jones Educator of the Year. The Tom Jones Educator Award recognizes educators in Dalton Public Schools who have made significant contributions in the education of children in Dalton and who symbolize excellence in teaching.

Debra Holbrook Named Dale Cook Support Educator of the Year
Debra Holbrook was named the first-ever recipient of the Dalton Education Foundation's Dale Cook Support Educator of the Year award.
The award was created by the family of Dale Cook and the Dalton Education Foundation as a way to recognize those support staff members who have made significant contributions for the educational opportunities of children in Dalton Public Schools.
Blue Ridge Teacher Donates Car to MIHS Student
Courtney Taylor, media specialist at Blue Ridge School, recently donated a car to a deserving student at Morris Innovative High School.

USDA Extends Free Meals for Students
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has approved a third extension of the free summer meal program through December 31, 2020. This extension allows all students ages 18 and under to eat free breakfast and lunch at schools.
