The Dalton Public Schools Board of Education has been recognized as an Exemplary Board by the Georgia School Boards Association (GSBA) for the fourth consecutive year. The board was first honored with this recognition in 2020, and has achieved the same status every year since.
The recognition program is designed to showcase best practices in school governance and leadership. GSBA recognizes good school board governance to foster educational community cultures in order to advance student learning and achievement.
Dalton Public Schools’ Board of Education met and/or exceeded the criteria set forth by GSBA to earn the honor of a 2023 Exemplary Board. The criteria may be reviewed by clicking here for more information.
Board Chair Matt Evans said this recognition is the culmination of the hard work happening in Dalton schools every day.
“Our board is honored to receive this statewide recognition,” Evans said. “But, ultimately, it is only a reflection of the collective commitment of Dalton Public Schools to pursue continual improvement and strive for excellence every day.”
Superintendent Tim Scott said it is an honor to be a part of a governance team that is focused on educational excellence and student success.
“Dalton Public Schools' achievement of Exemplary Board status for the fourth consecutive year is a testament to our governance team's unwavering commitment to excellence and continual improvement in pursuit of the best educational experience for our students,” said Scott. “I am immensely proud to work with such a great governance team that is dedicated to advancing student learning and achievement."
The GSBA Governance Team Recognition Program was developed by Georgia superintendents and board members based on the state board of education’s standards for effective governance to recognize exemplary leadership.
In 1998, the Georgia School Boards Association was one of the first school board associations in the nation to develop a program of standards for local boards of education.
The GSBA Board recognition program is a three-tiered program. For more information on the program you may visit the GSBA website for awards and recognition or to view the criteria for all tiers of the program.
