Dalton Education Foundation Awards Over $52,000 in Grants for the 2024-2025 School Year

Dalton, GA — May 30, 2024 — The Dalton Education Foundation (DEF) proudly announces the recipients of its 2024-2025 school year grants, totaling over $52,000. These grants, awarded to 42 dedicated educators and staff members, will support innovative projects and enhance educational opportunities across the Dalton school district. The Foundation Trustees extend heartfelt congratulations and gratitude to all who submitted applications.

Grant Distribution Highlights:

  • Teacher Wish List Grants: Numerous teachers received funding for diverse educational tools and projects, including sports equipment, technology for creating student art, science experiment materials, language translators, and resources for emotional support.
  • Tom Jones Excellence in Teaching Grants: Grants were provided for initiatives such as professional audio recording equipment, genetic testing materials for science classes, and advanced physics demonstration kits.
  • DEF Paint The Town Red Fundraiser Grants: These grants supported a variety of classroom needs, including musical instruments, STEM lab fixtures, outdoor communication boards, and materials for cultural and artistic projects.
  • Janice Meadows U.S. History Grants: Several educators received funding for projects designed to enhance the teaching of U.S. history, including historical exploration kits and authentic voting experience materials.
  • North Georgia EMC Grants: Funding was awarded for technological advancements, including the purchase of Ozobots to immerse students in technology and develop problem-solving skills.
  • Rowena Martin Innovative Instruction Grants: These grants funded creative art projects, such as self-portrait paintings with personal narratives for fifth-grade students.
  • Trammell Scott Family Grants: These grants enabled the development of business prototypes and other entrepreneurial projects for students.

Due to the generous contributions of DEF supporters, all schools within the DPS district will reap the benefits of the allocated funds. The Dalton Education Foundation extends its gratitude for the generous contributions received from various fundraising endeavors and sponsors. Notable supporters encompass the Tom Jones Family, Rowena Martin Family, Janice Meadows supporters, NGEMC, and the newly welcomed sponsor, the Trammell Scott Family.

The success of these grants is also due to the dedicated fundraising efforts of DEF Trustees, notably through the annual "Paint The Town Red" event and employee contributions donated through fundraiser campaigns and payroll deductions.
