DALTON, GA – May 9, 2024 – The Dalton Public Schools Board of Education will convene for its next meeting on Monday, May 13th, 2024. The meeting will be held at the City Park Auditorium, commencing with the Board of Education Work Session at 5:00 PM followed by the Regular Board of Education Meeting at 6:30 PM. 

During the Regular Session, following special appearances and recognitions by the Dalton Public Schools Board of Education, the agenda will feature several significant discussions and action items aimed at enhancing the educational landscape of the district. 

Some of the key agenda items include: ·

  • First Public Hearing on Fiscal Year 2025 General Fund Budget: The Board of Education invites all members of the public to participate in this crucial discussion. Citizens are encouraged to attend and provide comments in person. The proposed fiscal year 2025 budget presentation will be available for review at the meeting and online at the board of education website here.
  • Proposed Organizational Restructure Presentation by Dr. Steven Craft: Dr. Craft will introduce a proposed organization chart aimed at enhancing transparency and promoting efficiency within the Dalton Public Schools central office and across the school system. 

In addition to these discussions, the agenda includes several action items of significance: 

  • The request to purchase Savvas myView Literacy and myPerspectives: Brandi Moore, Executive Director of Teaching and Learning, will be requesting approval from the board members to adopt Savvas myView Literacy and myPerspectives as the core curriculum for literacy in Dalton Public Schools for grades K-8.   • Approval of Salary and Wage Schedules: Theresa Perry, Chief Finance Officer, will be seeking approval for the salary and wage schedules for Dalton Public Schools employees for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year. 
  • Request for continuation of Maintenance and Operating Tentative Millage Rate: The Board of Education will also be presented with a request for approval to continue the maintenance and operating tentative millage rate of 8.00 mills for fiscal year 2025.
