Dalton Public Schools Unveils New District Ambassadors Program

This fall, Dalton Public Schools is starting a new program designed to provide community members an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the day-to-day operations of the school district.

The goal of the District Ambassadors Program is to create a group of invested and engaged ambassadors who are passionate about students and schools and want to become knowledgeable advocates of the district.

“We are excited to offer an opportunity for our community to gain a greater understanding of how Dalton Public Schools fulfills its mission and vision,” said Tim Scott, superintendent. “I would encourage anyone who is interested in learning more about the opportunities and challenges that face public schools today to sign up. While two hours for each session will only allow us to provide a good overview of each department’s work, I believe participants will walk away understanding how the district supports schools, students and staff to provide a world-class education.”

Participants will immerse themselves in the ever-evolving world of education and hear about local learning initiatives as well as the financial operations, recruitment and safety standards for the district.

These ambassadors will be given a behind-the-scenes look at the district through touring schools, attending extra-curricular events and hearing from some of the district’s key players.

The sessions will last two hours, from 6 to 8 p.m., one evening a month from September to December. The first session is set to take place on September 20, 2022.

Individuals who successfully complete the program will become Dalton Ambassadors in the community and will be honored as graduates at the December Dalton Board of Education meeting.

There is no fee to participate in the program, but attendance is required at all sessions. Anyone interested in the program is encouraged to apply online.
