Dalton Public Schools Wraps Up a Memorable German-American Partnership Program

Over the course of 14 days, DPS students and chaperones embarked on a captivating journey through Germany, creating lasting memories as part of the German-American Partnership Program.

Braunschweig served as the central location for DPS's German adventure, with the program participants also visiting other notable destinations, including Hanover, the scenic Harz Mountains, and the vibrant city of Berlin.

Each stop on the itinerary provided an opportunity for cultural exploration, educational enrichment, and exciting experiences.

A group of 15 DPS students, accompanied by two dedicated chaperones, fully embraced the German culture, language, and traditions.

The highlight of the program was the chance to stay with host families, who had previously visited Dalton in the fall. This arrangement allowed for a deeper understanding of each other's customs and facilitated the development of lasting friendships among the participants.

The German-American Partnership Program proved to be a transformative experience for all involved. Students immersed themselves in the German language and engaged with locals, gaining valuable insights into the country's rich history, art, and architecture.

Exploring iconic landmarks such as the Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag, and the Berlin Wall left a lasting impression on their hearts and minds.

"What made my trip to Germany so memorable was the friendships that I formed with my German friends and the group I travelled with," said Dalton High graduate Jacob Meza. "Spending 2 weeks with the same group created memories I will forever cherish. My favorite thing to do was to go out and eat in the streets of Braunschweig and Berlin. As a group our favorite thing to eat was Döner. Germany is a beautiful country and the people are very welcoming, I would definitely want to go back."

Dalton Public Schools extends sincere appreciation to the German-American Partnership Program, our host families, and all the organizations and individuals who contributed to the success of this memorable journey. We are grateful for the support and encouragement provided to our students throughout this unique experience.
