Dalton High School Senior Ethan Evans is spending his Summer participating in two of the most prestigious military Summer seminars for students.
Over the break, Evans will participate in the The United States Naval Academy Summer Seminar and The West Point Summer Leader Experience.
The United States Naval Academy Summer Seminar introduces students to life at the Academy, where they experience first-class academic, athletic and professional training.
Evans said the rigorous application processes were based on class rank, achievement in athletics and extracurricular activities.
“It was an academic and physical process,” Evans said. “It was based on how good your GPA was, the classes you were enrolled in and the programs you’re involved in while at school, as well as sports and awards you received.”
The West Point Summer Leader Experience provides rising high school seniors with a week-long immersion into the academic, military, and social life of a cadet.
Evans hopes these experiences will give him a clear understanding of his future path and military career options.
“I’m looking forward to what they have to offer,” Evans said. “My dad is in the Army, and I would like to follow in his footsteps. I’m hoping after this I’ll know what I want to pursue.”
