The Dalton Board of Education has named Kendra Pannell as the director of communications for Dalton Public Schools. Pannell previously served as the communications coordinator for Gordon County Schools since 2021.
Pannell brings extensive communications experience to her new position. She worked for Kennesaw State University as the box office manager and communications specialist for three years and as the ticket sales and operations assistant for the athletic ticket office for three and a half years. She has also served as the education and group sales coordinator for the College Football Hall of Fame and as a gymnastics coordinator and head optional coach for the city of Carrollton.
Pannell holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Management from Kennesaw State University. She is a member of the Georgia School Public Relations Association (GSPRA) where she has served as a board member since 2023. She is also a member of the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA). Pannell served as a school district representative on the Calhoun-Gordon County Community Task Force. She was also involved with the Gordon County Chamber of Commerce’s Young Professionals Committee, Community and Government Affairs Committee, the Education and Workforce Development Committee, and the Amazing Race Subcommittee. She is active in the North Georgia Little Britches Rodeo Association and the Cherokee Rodeo Team.
She most recently received the GSPRA Best in Category Award for Special Purpose Publications, the GSPRA Peach Medallion Award for Marketing Communication Campaign, and a GSPRA Gold Award for Excellence for Photography and Special Purpose Publication. She has also been recognized with a 2023 NSPRA Award for Publications and Digital Media Excellence in Branding/Image Package. She was featured in the 2023 Women’s World Edition of the Calhoun Times.
