The CCRPI (College and Career Ready Performance Index) scorecards were released today by the Georgia Department of Education and Dalton Public Schools received their highest district score ever on the state's accountability measure. The district score for 2019 is 77.8, up 3.3 points from 2018 and above the state average of 75.9.

"We are very pleased to see our CCRPI scores up at the elementary, middle and high school levels as well as the district," said Dr. Tim Scott, superintendent. "We are also above the state average at the elementary and middle school levels. Everyone in our district has pulled together to really focus on academic improvement and helping children progress in their learning and we're finally seeing the results reflected in our CCRPI scores."

Dalton's elementary score was 81.3, the middle score was 74 and the high school score was 75.7—all higher than the 2018 scores.

Morris Innovative High and Blue Ridge schools made the greatest improvement in CCRPI with Morris improving 12.8 points to 54.6 and Blue Ridge gaining 10.4 points to 74.1. Park Creek improved by almost 7 points to 80.9 in 2019 while Dalton Middle increased by 6.4 points to 74. Westwood's score improved to 77.7 and Roan's score was up to 81.3. Brookwood, City Park and Dalton High all saw their scores fall incrementally.

CCRPI scores are based on five separate components – Content Mastery, Progress, Closing Gaps, Readiness and, for high schools, Graduation Rate.

Overall elementary, middle and high school scores were above state averages in the area of progress and closing gaps. Every school in Dalton improved their individual scores in content mastery from 2018.

"We still have work to do in the area of content mastery, which basically represents our students' scores on state assessments," Scott added. "But our teachers are seeing our students demonstrate substantial growth and progress in academics. Many of our students may bring challenges to school but our teachers are raising the bar and setting high expectations and our students are achieving. We're closing the gaps for our students and our subgroups like English Learners, economically disadvantaged and students with disabilities. I'm proud of the work that is going on in our classrooms and schools everyday. I know how hard our staff works and I'm pleased it's being reflected on the CCRPI scores."

The College and Career Ready Performance Index – CCRPI – is Georgia's accountability tool for annually measuring how well its schools, districts, and the state are helping students achieve their goals. It provides a comprehensive road map to help educators, families, and community members promote and improve college and career readiness for all students. The CCRPI can be used for communication and continuous improvement.
