Three Dalton Schools to Have New Principals Next School Year

Three principals have announced their desires to leave administration in Dalton Public Schools next school year. Jason Brock, principal at City Park School, Dr. Phil Jones, principal at Dalton Middle School, and Dr. Alan Martineaux, principal at Blue Ridge School have announced their desires to transfer out of school administration.

Mr. Brock has requested to leave administration and consider other positions that may become available within the school district for the next school year.

Dr. Phil Jones has requested a transfer back to the classroom teaching Spanish for next school year.

Dr. Alan Martineaux has elected to retire when his contract ends on June 30, 2019. He will pursue a part-time teaching opportunity in Dalton Public Schools for next school year.

All three men will continue in their current positions through June 30, 2019.

"All of these men have provided excellent leadership in their respective positions over the years," said Dr. Tim Scott, superintendent of Dalton Public Schools. "Phil and Alan have given much of their careers to Dalton Public Schools, and I'm glad they've chosen to remain in our district. While Jason has only been here for 3 years, he has accomplished a lot at City Park and his talent will continue to be an asset somewhere else in our district. I will miss working with them on a daily basis as part of our administrative team but wish them well as they enter this new phase in their careers."

Mr. Brock has served as the principal of City Park School since 2015. Previously, he worked in Whitfield County and Gordon County schools. He has worked in education for the last 14 years.

Dr. Jones has served as principal of Dalton Middle School for the last 3 years. Prior to that, he served as principal at Park Creek, Blue Ridge and the International Inclusion Center. He has been with Dalton Public Schools since 2000.

Dr. Alan Martineaux has served as principal at Blue Ridge School since 2015. Prior to that, he was the assistant principal at Blue Ridge for six years. He has been with Dalton Public Schools since 1996.

The district expects to post these positions for the 2019-20 school year on the district's website and through the Teach Georgia website by the end of this week.
