Many institutional scholarships are awarded to students who apply to college early. The scholarship processes are unique to each institution. To find these college/university institutional or academic scholarships, look on the college/university website under Financial Aid or search Scholarships.

Pay CLOSE attention to deadlines for admission applications and scholarship application deadlines. Don't let the money run out before you decide to apply!

Fastweb.com, Scholarships.com and Big Future from the College Board are good places to look for scholarship opportunities.

If you need to write something to apply for a scholarship or college, make sure to have someone proofread your essay and application before submitting it.

The Isabel Pridgen Charities Scholarship:

The Isabel Pridgen Charities Scholarship has been established to honor the memory of Isabel Pridgen and reward college bound Dalton High School Band students.  A scholarship of one thousand dollars is offered to qualified Dalton High School Catamount Band and Color Guard seniors.   

In addition to the application, students will be required to submit a one page essay about their band experience and what it has meant to them to be a part of the Dalton Catamount Band as well as a copy of their high school transcript.

Deadline for the applications will be Friday, April 18th.  Upon completion of the application, the student should turn in application to the Dalton High School Counseling Office.

The Renz Scholarship: Applicants should have 2.5 or higher and a record of community service. With all other factors being equal preference will be given the applicants who are athletes. The scholarships applications are due in the DHS counseling office on Friday, April 18th.

The Patrice Branham Scholarship:

Patrice Branham was Dalton High’s beloved ISS teacher.  She inspired and motivated many of our students to be better versions of themselves. She was always a great listener and full of wise advice for the many students that spent time in her classroom. The scholarship is due in the Counseling Office on May 1st.

The Dalton Education Foundation offers several scholarships to Dalton High School seniors. I have attached a link to the descriptions of the scholarships and a link to the application. The application should be turned into the counseling office by April 11th, 2025. The recipients of these scholarship will be announced on Scholarship Night which is May 14th at 6:00p.m.

Tanner Karr Memorial Scholarship:

The creator specified that this award should be given to the Dalton Public Schools senior who best reflects the qualities Tanner Karr exhibited during his life. Criteria to be considered in determining the recipient should include: A minimum of a 3.5 GPA Interested in pursuing a Bachelor of Science Degree in college Active within the community and/or extra-curricular activities Portray the quality of kindness through everyday actions. Whitfield-Murray Historical Society Scholarship:

The Society offers scholarships to seniors who hold good academic records and has participated in local historical projects. The historical project could be personal, school related, volunteer and or invovled with a historical group. The application deadline is April 1st.

Trinseo Scholarship:

For Students Planning on Entering the Field of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics

 The Trinseo STEM Scholarship is designed to help reduce financial barriers for a deserving student with academic and leadership potential and the desire to pursue a STEM career.  The award recipient must be a graduating high school senior planning to attend an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school, full time in the United States for the entire 2025-2026 academic year.  The deadline is April 11th.

Fantasy Factory Scholarship

The Community Foundation of NWGA is proud to partner with the Fantasy Factory in offering the Fantasy Factory Scholarship, an incredible opportunity for students dreaming of a career in graphic arts. The Better Business Bureau Scholarship. BBB of Southeast Tennessee and Northwest Georgia will award $1000 scholarships to students graduating in the class of 2025. Judges will select the scholarship recipients based on their overall personal integrity and character, their personal achievements, contributions to their communities and schools, and academic accomplishments. Shaw Dependent Scholarship: The Shaw Associate Dependent Scholarship Program offers scholarships to qualified Shaw associate dependents who are currently high school seniors set to graduate with a high school diploma in 2025 and enroll in full-time classes at an accredited institution in summer or fall 2025.  

Full guidelines and eligibility requirements are outlined on our website. All applications and related submittals must be received by March 3, 2025. Selected recipients will be announced in May.

Mary Ellen Locher Scholarship: This scholarship is specifically designed to provide financial support for children who have lost a parent or guardian to breast cancer, children of breast cancer survivors, or childres whose parent or guardian is currently battling breast cancer. The Elks National Foundation awards $2.52 million in college scholarships through its Most Valuable Student Contest. Our local ELKS lodge reviews the appliations from our area and awards about 15 scholarship. Last year the amount was $1500 each. Apply at https://www.elks.org/scholars/scholarships/mvs.cfm. The Deadline is November 12th.

Information about the HOPE Scholarship, the Zell Miller Scholarship and the HOPE Grant (for technical college) is on the GA Futures Website.  You can check your HOPE G.P. A. on this website.   When you complete the FAFSA, you automatically apply for HOPE.
