The Exceptional Student Services office announces its intention to destroy special education records on July 31, 2022. The destruction of records will affect students born in 1999.
The Dalton Education Foundation (DEF) awarded Grants for Instruction in all ten schools within the district this year. DEF Trustees recently announced a total of 54 grants will be funded, totaling $57,219.25.
Alesa Smith was approved as the assistant principal for Roan School at the June meeting of the Dalton Board of Education. Smith currently serves as a primary instructional coach at City Park School.
Two Dalton Public Schools teachers recently received a $3,000 Fine Arts Consumables and Equipment (FACE) Grant from the Georgia Department of Education.

Westwood School recently blew away their fundraising goal by raising more than $2,600 for the Family Support Council, wrapping the week with their annual bubble gum blowing competition.
Botany students at Dalton High School designed and constructed hydroponic gardening systems in partnership with the school’s engineering students.
A team of four Westwood students spent ten weeks trading stocks playing the Stock Market Game. The team, made up of Slayde Robinson, Josie Melton, Analeigh Barton and Smith Browning, placed first in the region competition and 106th place out of 2938 teams in the state competition.
This April, Dalton Junior High School students gathered under brilliant lights as they hosted their inaugural junior prom.
