Free and Reduced Meals

Each year, Dalton Public Schools encourages families to complete the Free and Reduced Meal Application to determine eligibility for meals at reduced or no cost. For the 2024-2025 school year, the Georgia Department of Education is providing funding for students who qualify for reduced-price meals to eat at no cost.

Applications are available year-round; however, we encourage submission before the first day of school.

Only one application is required per household, and all information is kept private and confidential. Paper copies are available upon request. Students receiving SNAP and/or TANF food assistance are automatically eligible for free meals; however, these families are still encouraged to complete and submit the application before the first day of school on August 8, 2024.

By completing the Free and Reduced Meal Application, students deemed eligible for free or reduced meals may also qualify for a variety of scholarship opportunities as well as waivers and/or reductions in application or exam fees, such as the SAT, ACT, or AP exams, among others.

For the 2024-25 school year, students who qualify for reduced breakfast and lunch will not have to pay. The State of Georgia will cover the cost of meals for students who are eligible for reduced meals through the current school year. This means that eligible students will be able to enjoy nutritious breakfasts and lunches without any financial burden. We encourage all families who believe they may qualify for free or reduced-price meals to submit an application as soon as possible.
