The Dalton Noon Lions Club will be providing a free eye screening at Blue Ridge Elementary on September 11, 2025. The purpose of this screening is to identify students who have vision problems or may be at-risk for vision problems. Most vision problems go undetected because they are not obvious to the student or parent. If left untreated, the problem may impact the student’s ability to learn. However, early detection and treatment can, in many cases, restore normal vision. This screening, conducted with a PlusOptix vision screener, is non-invasive, and is not intended to substitute for a comprehensive eye examination. Permission forms will be going home this week. If you would like for your child to be screened, please fill out the form and return it to school. Thank you!

Blue Ridge School Dismissal Update:
Due to a power outage caused by a blown transformer and fire damage to a utility pole, a section of Frederick Street is closed. This requires a temporary change to our dismissal procedures for today only.
Regular dismissal will take place at the side of the building.
When exiting Blue Ridge School, all vehicles will be directed to turn left through the parking lot and left again onto Frederick Street. Right turns will not be possible.
Please know that all students, faculty and staff are safe. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to ensure a safe and orderly dismissal.
Thank you for your cooperation and continued support.

With snow and a wintry mix expected in the forecast, we’ve made the decision to cancel school on Friday, January 10, 2025, to ensure the safety of our students, staff, and families.
This day will not be a digital learning day, so students will not have assignments or online work to complete. We hope this gives your family the opportunity to enjoy a safe and restful day at home.
While we anticipate returning to school as usual next week, we will encourage students to take their laptops and chargers home with them today. This is just a precaution in case weather conditions extend beyond Friday. Please help us remind your child to handle these items with care so they’re ready to use when needed.
If your child is in need of a warm jacket for the winter weather, please contact your school social worker for assistance. We are here to help and ensure all students are prepared for the colder temperatures.
Additionally, if your family is experiencing food insecurity or would like assistance, we invite you to visit our website for a list of food resources available to families.
Thank you for your understanding and partnership as we navigate the winter weather together. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to your child’s school.
Stay safe, stay warm, and we look forward to seeing everyone back soon!

With snow and a wintry mix in the forecast, we are closely monitoring the weather and considering all factors to ensure the safety of our students, staff, and families. We will meet with our weather team early tomorrow morning to review the latest conditions and determine the best course of action. Once a decision is made, we will communicate it to you promptly, so you have time to prepare accordingly.
In preparation for the weather event, we encourage all students to bring their laptops and chargers home with them on Thursday. We ask for your help in reminding your child to do so, ensuring they handle these items with care and have them ready to use if needed.
