Celebrate World Down Syndrome Day – Friday, March 20!

World Down Syndrome Day is observed globally on March 21 (3/21) to represent Trisomy 21, the genetic condition that causes Down Syndrome (3 copies of the 21st chromosome). Since the date falls on a Saturday this year, let's celebrate on Friday, March 20 with the “Lots of Socks” tradition!

Students and staff are encouraged to wear bright, colorful, or mismatched socks to celebrate differences and support individuals with Down Syndrome. Socks symbolize chromosomes, and the extra chromosome in Trisomy 21 is represented by fun or mismatched socks—sparking conversations and raising awareness.

Celebrating promotes inclusion, understanding, and appreciation for the uniqueness of all students. So help us celebrate and make sure to share your crazy sock photos with Mrs. Collins at anna.collins@dalton.k12.ga.us

Penny War Flyer....1,2,3,4 we declare a penny war. March 9-13. Rules: each grade has a bucket to drop pennies into between 3/9 and 3/13. The class with the most points wins an ice cream party. But...Grades can sabotage each other and deduct points by dropping any silver coins into the jar. Pennies = 1 point, $1 bills = 100 points, $5 bills=250 points, and $10 bills=500 points towards your grade level. You can subtract points from other grade levels by adding nickles, dimes, quarters, or silver dollars to their buckets.

Good Afternoon families,

We want to make you aware that due to the Dalton State Homecoming Parade taking place in downtown Dalton on Friday, February 20, the Dalton Public Schools After School Program (ASP) at City Park will not operate that afternoon.

The scheduled street closures connected to the parade will prevent us from running ASP as usual. As a result, ASP services will not be available on February 20.

We understand this change may require adjustments to your afternoon plans, and we sincerely appreciate your flexibility. Please make arrangements for your child to be picked up at regular dismissal time.

If you have any questions or need assistance, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s school. We are always happy to help.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding.

Dear Dalton Public Schools Families and Community,
To support the safety and well-being of our students, staff, and families, Dalton Public Schools will operate on a 2-hour delay on Tuesday, January 27, 2026. You may drop students off beginning at 9:30 am.

Students will begin the school day two hours later than their normal start time, and school buses will also operate on a two-hour delay from their usual routes. We ask families to please be mindful of cold temperatures and ensure students are dressed appropriately. Bus routes may take slightly longer than usual as drivers use extra care to ensure safe transportation. Students will have the option to receive a grab-and-go breakfast upon arrival Tuesday morning.

All afterschool activities will continue as normally scheduled.
Dalton Public Schools staff members should check their email for additional information regarding the delayed start.
As always, the safety and well-being of our students, staff, and families remain our top priority. Thank you for your continued understanding and support. Please stay safe and warm, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back to school on Tuesday, January 27.

Sincerely,

Good afternoon, families,

This morning, Roan School and Blue Ridge briefly implemented a precautionary lockout due to nearby police activity unrelated to the schools. At the request of the Dalton Police Department, school staff secured the buildings and continued normal classroom activities while officers completed their work in the area.

At no point were students or staff in any danger. The lockout was taken out of an abundance of caution and was lifted once police activity concluded.

Thank you for your continued trust and partnership as we work each day to support a safe learning environment for our students and staff.
