Dalton, GA – A new podcast series, Las Doce, is set to debut this Hispanic Heritage Month, highlighting the inspiring journeys of twelve Hispanic women who have become leaders in Dalton. From educators to business owners to nonprofit trailblazers, these women share their powerful stories of perseverance, sacrifice, and achievement.
Created through a collaboration between students from The Dalton Academy High School, Dalton Junior High, and the National Podcast Project, Las Doce captures stories of immigration, entrepreneurship, and the pursuit of making families proud. Each episode provides a unique window into the lived experiences of women who are shaping the Dalton community today.
The project was directed by Amanda Triplett and edited by Hollie Cope. Five talented students – Gabriela Ruelas, Nancy Ruelas, Brooklyn Gunter, Miricle Rosas, and Joanna Bethel – conducted the interviews, capturing the voices of twelve remarkable women: Karen Pimentel, Alma Fraire, America Gruner, Ana Ortiz, Dolores Carrillo, Eliza Avila, Eva Rodriguez Alicea, Mayella Meza, Viviana Ramirez, Fabiola Miranda, Farrah Sarmiento, and Rosa Cuna.
To celebrate the launch, a special community dinner will be held at D Food Collab on Block 79 in Dalton on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at 4:30 PM. Guests will have the opportunity to meet the women featured in the series and hear firsthand about their journeys.
Throughout September and October, posters with QR codes will be displayed around Dalton, giving community members easy access to listen to Las Doce and celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month 2025.
“Las Doce is more than just a podcast,” said director Amanda Triplett. “It’s a celebration of culture, resilience, and the many ways Hispanic women contribute to the fabric of Dalton. We are proud that our students had the chance to document these powerful stories.”
