Dalton Public Schools has tentatively adopted a millage rate which will require an increase in property taxes by 0.95%.
Dalton Public Schools and Whitfield County Schools are partnering with Purposity, an app connecting users with one-to-one needs in the community. The partnership aims to match the unmet needs of students with the generosity of those in the community who have a sincere desire to help.
New teachers to Brookwood Elementary had the opportunity to participate in a guided tour of the new Anna Shaw Children's Institute. The tour was designed to give the new teachers a chance to learn about the incredible resources available for children in the area, and to learn more about the authentic design process used to address the needs of their young patients.
Dalton Public Schools and City of Refuge recently co-applied for a grant from the U.S. Department of Education in order to launch a 21st Century Community Learning Center (CLCC). The district will receive $321,938 annually over the five-year cycle of the grant. This partnership will serve 125 students with afterschool and summer programs.
Fuentes was named Dalton Public Schools' Teacher of the Year at the district's employee convocation on August 1 at the Wink Theater. Beth Sams from Dalton Middle School was also announced as the runner-up.
When school starts on Wed., Aug. 7, students and parents will find a new traffic pattern at Dalton High School for student drop off and pick up.
