Dalton Public Schools is proud to announce that Jacob Fields, technology support technician at Hammond Creek Middle School, has been named the school’s 2024–2025 Classified Staff Member of the Year.
Fields joined Dalton Public Schools in 2022 and has served at Hammond Creek Middle School since 2023. Known for his positive attitude, dependable support, and dedication to building strong relationships with students and staff, Fields is recognized as a vital part of the school community.
His commitment to creating welcoming, student-centered interactions is a hallmark of his work. “I make it a point to greet students by name and engage them in conversation when I’m in classrooms or the hallways,” Fields shared in his application. Whether he’s troubleshooting classroom technology or supporting new students, Fields aims to ensure everyone feels comfortable and cared for.
Teachers frequently commend Fields for his responsiveness and calm problem-solving. Even on the busiest days, he prioritizes instructional continuity. He recalled one moment when he paused his schedule to help a teacher whose lesson was halted by a technology issue: “Even though I was heading to another task, I immediately diverted to help them get up and running within a few minutes.”
Fields says what motivates him most is the opportunity to make someone’s day better. “There’s a real sense of joy and fulfillment for me when I see the relief, excitement, or even just the smile that comes from resolving a tech issue,” he wrote. “Knowing that I’ve made someone’s day a little easier or helping a student stay on track with their learning is the most rewarding part of my job.”
Hammond Creek Middle School celebrates Jacob Fields for his commitment to service, his positive spirit, and his impact on the school community. Dalton Public Schools applauds his exceptional contributions and congratulates him on being named Classified Staff Member of the Year.
