Dalton Public Schools Students Advance to State Level of Georgia Student Technology Competition

Dalton, GA — Dalton Public Schools students are heading to the state level of the Georgia Student Technology Competition (GaSTC) after an outstanding performance at regional competition, where five DPS teams earned first-place honors.

Students showcased impressive, innovative projects across a wide range of categories, including video production, animation, audio production, robotics, graphic design, and 3D modeling. All participating teams previously advanced from the DPS District Technology Competition before competing at regionals.

In total, 27 teams representing 34 students competed at the regional level. The following students earned top honors and will advance to the GaSTC State Competition:

  • 07–08 Graphic Design: Adelaya Waire and Carmen Estrada, Dalton Junior High School

  • 07–08 Animation: Rebecca Duran, Dalton Junior High School

  • 07–08 Audio Production: Tucker Rewis, Hammond Creek Middle School

  • 07–08 3D Modeling: Brandt Bowers, Hammond Creek Middle School

  • 07–08 Digital Photo Production: Ayo Illesamni and Sofia Hernandez

The Georgia Student Technology Competition (GaSTC) is Georgia’s premier statewide technology competition, hosted by the Georgia Educational Technology Consortium. Open to students in grades 3 through 12, the annual event challenges students to innovate, collaborate, and demonstrate excellence across a broad spectrum of digital and technical disciplines.

Each year, more than 1,000 students are showcased and judged at the state level, making GaSTC the highest tier of student technology competition in Georgia.
