Dalton Public Schools is proud to announce that Rosie Rivera has been named Brookwood School’s 2024-2025 Classified Staff Member of the Year.
Rivera was selected for this honor in recognition of her outstanding commitment to students, families, and staff during her time as Bookkeeper at Brookwood Elementary. Known for creating a welcoming and supportive environment in the front office, Rivera consistently went above and beyond to ensure students felt safe, valued, and cared for.
“At Brookwood, I make it a priority to ensure every student feels seen, heard, and supported,” Rivera shared in her application. “Whether it's comforting a child who’s had a rough morning, celebrating a student’s accomplishments—big or small—or helping a non-English-speaking family navigate school procedures, I strive to create a warm and welcoming environment for all.”
Throughout her time at Brookwood, Rivera supported students beyond the traditional responsibilities of her role. She frequently assisted families, helped coordinate meaningful school events, and served as a reliable team member wherever needed. From organizing graduation ceremonies and cultural celebrations to translating during parent meetings and supporting colleagues, Rivera demonstrated a deep commitment to the school community.
“What sets me apart is my consistent effort to go above and beyond what’s expected, not because it’s required, but because I truly care,” Rivera wrote. “I take the initiative without waiting to be asked. Whether I’m organizing a last-minute event, calming a nervous parent, or stepping in to support a staff member, I do so with empathy and attention to detail.”
Rivera’s bilingual skills and servant leadership have helped strengthen connections between the school and its families, ensuring all stakeholders feel informed, included, and empowered.
Since receiving this recognition, Rivera has transitioned to a new role within Dalton Public Schools. She now serves as Administrative Assistant in the district’s Teaching and Learning Department, where she continues to support student success at the district level.
