Dalton Public Schools Congratulates Two Students Named 2026 Georgia Scholars Honorees

Dalton, GA — Dalton Public Schools is proud to announce that two Dalton High School seniors, Leslie Garcia and Alaina Peterfreund, have been named 2026 Georgia Scholars by the Georgia Department of Education.

State School Superintendent Richard Woods recognized 162 graduating seniors across Georgia with this prestigious honor, which celebrates excellence in both school and community life. Each Georgia Scholar receives a special seal for their diploma along with a graduation cord to signify their achievement.

The Georgia Scholar program identifies high school seniors who demonstrate exceptional dedication to academic rigor, leadership, and service. Honorees maintain exemplary course loads throughout their high school careers, achieve outstanding academic success, actively participate in extracurricular and community activities, and serve as leaders in their schools and communities.
