Yesterday, members of the district office leadership team made their way back into the classroom for the day so Dalton High’s science teachers could enjoy a well-deserved off-campus lunch! The science department earned this treat by winning the Dalton High School Spirit Competition during the DHS homecoming week. It was a great way to celebrate their hard work and school spirit while keeping the learning going!

Several of our students had a fantastic time at Special Spruces this week, a Christmas party for Dalton City and Whitfield County students. Both days featured a dance with a DJ, a delicious lunch, and a special visit from Santa. We love this community event and extend our heartfelt thanks to our teachers for their dedication to serving our students and making moments like this possible!

Last week, Dalton Public Schools had the privilege of presenting to Leadership Dalton-Whitfield during their Education Session. The day was both engaging and insightful, starting with a joint presentation by Dr. Steven Craft, superintendent of Dalton Public Schools GA, and Dr. Ewton, superintendent of Whitfield County Schools. They highlighted key initiatives shaping the future of education in our community. Participants then participated in a work-based learning panel discussion featuring educators from both school systems, followed by a guided tour of Southeast Whitfield High School. The day wrapped up with interactive tabletop discussions, bringing together students from our local high schools. It was a meaningful experience filled with learning, connection, and a heartfelt celebration of the commitment our schools have to empowering the next generation!

Twelve students from Hammond Creek Middle School recently represented our district at the District VII Honor Choir in Cartersville. Jack Redding opened one of the choir’s pieces with a spoken word performance, and Thomas McInnish performed a solo in another. Five students also auditioned for the Georgia All-State Chorus, and Jack Redding was selected for the 7th/8th Grade All-State Mixed Choir. He will move on to the second round of auditions in January, competing alongside nearly 6,000 students statewide. We are so proud of Jack and all our students for their hard work and achievements!
