Weāre proud to celebrate Dalton Junior High School and The Dalton Academy chorus and piano teacher Hannah Carter Crosa, who performs with the regionally recognized treble choir Luxārecently selected for two major performance honors this season!
From presenting at the GMEA Conference in Athens to being chosen as one of only 13 choirs to perform at the ACDA Southeastern Conference, Lux continues to shine, and weāre thrilled to have one of our own among its talented members.

Classroom Spotlight: At Hammond Creek Middle School, Roschelle Bautista is bringing history to life! Her students recently explored the journey of Sacajawea and Lewis and Clark through the SAVVAS curriculum, building insight by strengthening comprehension and vocabulary skills. Engaging discussions and thoughtful learning were on full display as students deepened their understanding of this important moment in history.
Dalton Public Schools is proud to announce that Faviola PeƱa, sixth-grade social studies teacher at Hammond Creek Middle School, has been named their 2024ā2025 Teacher of the Year.
PeƱa, a Dalton native and former Dalton Public Schools student, has been an educator with the district since 2019. She began her career at Morris Innovative High School before joining Hammond Creek Middle School, where she currently teaches sixth-grade social studies.

Holiday Joy with Our Little Cats! āØš
Our Little Cats students have been busy celebrating the holiday season through stories, art, and meaningful conversations! From learning how arctic animals prepare for winter to exploring Christmas traditions from around the world, students enjoyed a week full of discovery and cheer. The celebration wrapped up with a read-aloud of Olivia Helps with Christmas, a creative art activity, festive fellowship, and even a special visit from the North Poleācomplete with a keepsake ornament for each student.
It was a joyful way to close out the season and create lasting memories for our Little Cats! ā¤ļø

Classroom Spotlight: At Blue Ridge School, Gray Weldon recently led students in a close reading of "The Carp" in SAVVAS. Students looked back through the text to find key details, use context clues, and explore literary structureāall while learning about a Japanese boyās journey to becoming a painter.
City Hall was filled with holiday spirit yesterday thanks to the Westwood School Chorus. A big thank you to the students and teachers who helped spread Christmas cheer throughout Dalton!

After presenting their golden tickets, students traveled along the tracks to find the perfect reading spot while Mr. Sun brought the story to life as the Conductor. Learning comes to life in Abigail Weberās classroom! Students put physical science into action by designing and building mousetrap cars, applying real-world engineering to explore simple and compound machines, mechanical advantage, and energy transformation.
Through this hands-on challenge, students investigated how stored potential energy transforms into kinetic energy, analyzed balanced and unbalanced forces, and used Newtonās Laws of Motion to explain how force, mass, and acceleration impact motion. A great example of creativity, critical thinking, and science in action at Dalton Public Schools!

The Dalton High School Catamount Football players recently had the opportunity to serve at the Salvation Army of Whitfield, Murray, and Gordon County. These Catamounts are thankful to the Salvation Army for providing this meaningful opportunity to give back to the community.

Several of our students had a fantastic time at Special Spruces, a Christmas party for Dalton City and Whitfield County students. Both days featured a dance with a DJ, a delicious lunch, and a special visit from Santa.

Classroom Spotlight: Students in Gabby Rodriguezās class at Park Creek School recently reviewed their volume lessons with a festive, real-world challenge! They worked to find the greatest volume gift for the lowest price ā a fun way to put their math skills to the test.
To support a more focused, engaged, and distraction-free learning environment ā and to comply with the new Georgia state law ā personal devices (including cell phones and smart watches) will not be permitted during the school day for Dalton Public Schools students in grades Kā8.
