Don't forget that this Friday, we will be celebrating World Down Syndrome Day! This special day is recognized around the world on March 21 to raise awareness and celebrate people with Down syndrome.
Down syndrome is a genetic condition where a person has an extra copy of chromosome 21. That’s why the date 3/21 was chosen!
To celebrate, we will be joining the “Lots of Socks” tradition. Socks are worn because chromosomes look a little like socks, and wearing fun, colorful, or crazy socks is a great way to start conversations and show support.
So this Friday, don’t forget to wear your craziest, most colorful socks to school!
Let’s celebrate inclusion, kindness, and what makes each of us unique, and make sure to share your crazy sock photos with Mrs. Collins at anna.collins@dalton.k12.ga.us

Celebrate World Down Syndrome Day – Friday, March 20!
World Down Syndrome Day is observed globally on March 21 (3/21) to represent Trisomy 21, the genetic condition that causes Down Syndrome (3 copies of the 21st chromosome). Since the date falls on a Saturday this year, let's celebrate on Friday, March 20 with the “Lots of Socks” tradition!
Students and staff are encouraged to wear bright, colorful, or mismatched socks to celebrate differences and support individuals with Down Syndrome. Socks symbolize chromosomes, and the extra chromosome in Trisomy 21 is represented by fun or mismatched socks—sparking conversations and raising awareness.
Celebrating promotes inclusion, understanding, and appreciation for the uniqueness of all students. So help us celebrate and make sure to share your crazy sock photos with Mrs. Collins at anna.collins@dalton.k12.ga.us

Good Afternoon families,
We want to make you aware that due to the Dalton State Homecoming Parade taking place in downtown Dalton on Friday, February 20, the Dalton Public Schools After School Program (ASP) at City Park will not operate that afternoon.
The scheduled street closures connected to the parade will prevent us from running ASP as usual. As a result, ASP services will not be available on February 20.
We understand this change may require adjustments to your afternoon plans, and we sincerely appreciate your flexibility. Please make arrangements for your child to be picked up at regular dismissal time.
If you have any questions or need assistance, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s school. We are always happy to help.
Thank you for your continued support and understanding.
