Check out this week's edition of the Panther Press Newsletter! We have many exciting things happening at City Park!

In honor of Homecoming week, PAWS will be offering a facepainting fundraiser starting Monday, September 23. Starting on Monday, students may stop by the library throughout the day for a cat themed face paint design. Each design is $1; we ask for exact change and no large bills. Proceeds will go toward decor and items for our assemblies and events this school year.

Shoutout to Mrs. Fraire and Mrs. Halman's students for their PAWsome work yesterday in Savvas myView! They engaged in close reading, making and confirming predictions, while the teachers utilized a parallel teaching model in small groups. Well done!

Mid-September brings with it some great opportunities for our students to celebrate. September 15 is International Dot Day. This is a day based on a popular children’s book that celebrates creativity and the power of encouragement. Our art teacher, Mr. D, does a fantastic job of celebrating creatvity with our students. September 15 also kicks off a month long celebration for Hispanic Heritage Month, and on September 17, our country celebrates Constitution Day and Citizenship Day. Our ELL Department helps us to learn about different Hispanic cultures during this month, and Ms. Jones and Mrs. Talley help us learn about our government and citizenship through our student council election, assemblies, and PAWSitive Panther character traits. With all these great things going on, PAWS will bring our school together for an assembly on September 17 at 9:00 am in the auditorium. Our students will sing patriotic songs, and we will end the assembly by kicking off Dalton High School Homecoming. Fourth and fifth grades will also vote for their student council representatives on this day, with winners being announced at the end of the school day. That evening, our families are invited to come to school at 5:00 for our Title I Meeting followed by Open House. We ask that students wear red on this special day!
