Dalton Public Schools Honors CTAE Month: February is CTAE Month, a time to celebrate Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education (CTAE), recognizing the significant contributions and accomplishments of our CTAE educators and students.
These programs are essential in preparing students for well-paying and in-demand professions, offering education and training across various fields. Dalton Public Schools takes pride in providing 14 distinct CTAE pathways through The Dalton Academy and Dalton High School.

We’re proud to announce that The Dalton Academy has been recognized as a CSI Progress School by the Georgia Department of Education! This designation celebrates schools that have made measurable improvements in student achievement.
The Dalton Academy earned this recognition by increasing its CCRPI Content Mastery score by at least 5% while demonstrating strong performance in key areas like Progress, Closing Gaps, or Readiness.

The Kiwanis Club of Dalton and The Rotary Club of Dalton recently hosted a luncheon at the Dalton Convention Center, bringing together local soccer coaches and athletic directors for a preview of the upcoming season. Coaches highlighted their teams' outlooks, celebrated last season’s successes, and introduced key returning players. They also shared ways the community can support their programs, including sponsorship opportunities and attending games.

Community support plays a vital role in the success of local teams, and the luncheon provided a great opportunity to connect with those making an impact on student-athletes.


Westwood School's 5th graders recently brought history to life with a wax museum! Students dressed as historical figures and shared their stories with younger classmates and visitors, making learning interactive and fun.











The Dalton Academy Announces Addition of Golf Program for 2025-26 Season
The Dalton Academy is thrilled to announce the addition of Golf to its athletic program, set to officially launch in the 2025-26 school year. This exciting expansion provides students with a new opportunity to develop skills in one of the fastest-growing high school sports while representing TDA with pride and excellence.
Leading the charge as the first-ever Girls Golf Coach at The Dalton Academy is Coach Deb Harrington. Coach Harrington brings a wealth of experience and passion to the program, having played golf recreationally for over 40 years and working in the golf industry for 15 years, specializing in golf course maintenance and food and beverage services.

Classroom Spotlight: Students in Mrs. Emily Weathers' math class at Dalton Junior High put their skills to the test with a fun game reviewing systems of equations! They had to bet on themselves and their knowledge to earn points—learning and strategy in action!








Dalton Junior High’s Christian Verdel Earns Spot in Georgia All-State Band
Dalton Public Schools proudly celebrates an incredible achievement by Dalton Junior High School 8th grader Christian Verdel, who has earned a spot in the prestigious Georgia All-State Band. Christian’s selection is a testament to his dedication, talent, and countless hours of practice. He will perform with the state’s finest young musicians on March 1, 2025, at The Classic Center in Athens, GA.

Roan School recently hosted its annual RED (Roan Exploration and Discover) Day, giving students the opportunity to explore diverse topics in a conference-like setting!
From healthy eating and yoga to theatre, Emergency Medicine, and a Ninja Warrior challenge, students engaged in hands-on learning led by teachers, community members, and local business volunteers. A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this day a memorable experience for our students!











The Little Cats program is excited to offer three Pop-Up classes at the Beechland Resource Center this spring! These sessions are designed for parents and children to work together through story and circle time, music and movement, literacy, math, science, and active play to help develop essential motor skills. To participate, children must turn three by September 1.

Dalton Public Schools Students Selected for Prestigious Georgia All-State Chorus
In November, students from Dalton Public Schools joined nearly 6,000 of their peers from across Georgia in auditioning for the Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA) All-State Chorus. This rigorous audition process required personal preparation, dedication, and participation in after-school rehearsals, as well as extensive practice at home.
Dalton Public Schools is proud to announce that two of its talented students have been selected to represent the district at this prestigious event, which will take place on February 15, 2025, at The Classic Center in Athens, GA.

Mrs. Pineda's class at Roan School celebrated the 100th day of school with a tasty math activity! Students practiced counting by 10s to reach 100 as they combined snacks like pretzels, marshmallows, and cereal to create their own trail mix.
